Dr Seuss is a Mentor

Dr-Seuss-wordpressIn the last week I’ve seen two examples of why Dr Seuss’s books are a business must-read. Yes, I am talking about those children’s books published around the time my parents were born.

During a public speaking lecture at RMIT, John Milburn-Clark suggested to practice we read picture story books aloud. It reminded me of reading The Cat in the Hat to a three year old with full intonation and voices to keep his attention. I dare you to try it. It’s fun, and exhausting – the third time through.

Then today in the IABC Communication World magazine, I read that Carrie Nicholson of Enbridge Pipelines Inc in Canada recommends Oh, The Places You’ll Go! for motivation.

Just showing everything is useful, even Dr Seuss books. Which childhood books still influence you today?

Just goes to show how many uses picture story books can have doesn’t it? Though I do love Dr. Seuss.
